Flights & Airports
There are two airports in the Greek part of Cyprus: Paphos Airport and Larnaca International Airport.
- Paphos Airport: small airport, but the closest to Coral Bay with 30 km and approximately 30 minutes drive. Mainly EasyJet, Jet2 and Ryan Air fly to Paphos from all over Europe, but the prices to fly to Paphos Airport are normally higher than flying into Larnaca.
- Larnaca International Airport: bigger airport for carriers like British Airways, Lufthansa, Austrian and Aegean Air. I say bigger, but in fact Larnaca is a very comfortable airport. No long walks, only 1 terminal and normally pretty fast in check-in, passport control and luggage check. The drive from Larnaca to Peyja is about 1h45, but the route is scenic and there is loads to see.
- Border Control & Security: although both Paphos and Larnaca Airports have announced to start with installing e-gates, we don't expect it to be ready by the time we fly to Cyprus. Until then, there is an extra step in Security compared to what we all are used to, this is called BorderXpress. Which means you have to go up to a little kiosk, have your passport scanned and photo taken and a piece of paper with your photo and credentials is printed. You then hand that piece of paper in with a police officer, if you're an EU citizen you can walk through and Non-EU citizens proceed to the desk to have their passport stamped. Make sure that you have your passport stamped on both entering and exiting the country, otherwise you might get in trouble leaving Cyprus (Lee's experience) or getting in your own country again (also Lee's experience)...
